The General Dean Suspension Bridge spans the Kaskaskia River at Carlyle in Clinton County, Illinois, United States. It is named after Major General William F. Dean, who served during the Korean War and was a native of Carlyle. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was added to the Register in 1973.

Coles Creek has a beach and two reservable group picnic shelters that can accommodate up to 75 guests each. The sites provides modern amenities like electric hookups, showers, drinking water and flush toilets. It is adjacent to Coles Creek Recreation Area and Lotus Group Area.
We’d like to introduce the Carlyle Lake Bike Trail, a cooperative effort between the City of Carlyle and the US Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake! The Trail is comprised of bike trails and routes that connect the City to the southern edge of Carlyle Lake and public lands maintained by the Corps. It’s a great way to tour Carlyle AND take in great views of the Lake and adjacent farmland, prairie, and wetlands.
West Access Marina, a year round facility for slip rental or shore storage for large and small boats located at the southwest end of Carlyle Lake. The marina is designed for your family’s enjoyment with safe, clean facilities. It is ideally situated for a variety of water sports from sailing to fishing to just lounging at your campsite or on the beach. The marina is located between the Corps of Engineers Dam West Campground and the new Visitors’ Center and across the road from the new 18-hole PGA golf course.

Carlyle Lake offers good fishing for crappie, white bass, largemouth bass, bluegill, channel and flathead catfish, freshwater drum and carp. Other species commonly caught are green sunfish, yellow bass, yellow and black bullheads. If you like variety, the tailwater area, directly below the lake’s spillway, is a fisherman’s paradise.
